The principals, Bono Mitchell and Tom Specht, have worked together in the studio since 1988, incorporating in 1998 to form BonoTom Studio Inc.—integrating design talent and digital expertise.

Bono Mitchell graduated from George Washington University with a BA 
in fine arts. She was designer at ABC Network News, working for seven years for The ABC Evening News with Howard K. Smith and Harry Reasoner and Good Morning America with Peter Jennings. In 1977 she was art director of BUILDER magazine for the National Association of Home Builders and subsequently Hanley-Wood. In 1982 she left the magazine to start her own business specializing in association publication design. In 1988 she expanded the studio to include Tom Specht & Associates. The companies subsequently merged to form BonoTom Studio Inc.

Tom Specht graduated from Dartmouth College and began working at the National Association of Home Builders as assistant editor and typesetter for BUILDER magazine, where he met Bono. He formed his own design company in 1981, Tom Specht & Associates, specializing in association publication design and typesetting. The company effortlessly made the transition from traditional typesetting and pasteup to digital design. Tom has also taught digital graphic design at Montgomery College in Rockville, Maryland.

Ken Ceccucci graduated from the University of Florida with a BA in Art. He has worked in the Washington, DC area as a designer since 1980 and joined BonoTom Studio Inc. in 1996 as senior designer.

Tom Heffner has been a publication designer for more years than he cares to admit both in the United States and England. He has been with BonoTom Studio Inc. since 2007.

Abigail Noonan started out studying science at Harvard University, found graphic design, and has never looked back. She graduated with a BFA in design from Rochester Institute of Technology and recently came to the studio from The Atlantic Monthly.

Paul Philpott received his undergraduate degree from Virginia Tech, has worked on publications for several years and serves as our production manager and designer.
